How the crown is decided
The crown
Every hour, on the hour, the wallet that bought the most $KINGPIN during that hour becomes the Kingpin and holds the homepage for the next hour.
The hour is a wall-clock hour in UTC. Buying at 14:59 counts toward the 14:00 hour, and the crown for it is decided at 15:00 exactly. There is no extension and no tiebreak window: it closes when it closes.
What counts as a buy
Net, not gross. Your hour is everything you bought minus everything you sold. Buying ten million and selling ten million is not a purchase, it is a round trip, and it counts as zero.
Only trades against a pool count. A buy is tokens leaving a liquidity pool for your wallet, and a sell is the reverse. Tokens sent from one wallet to another count for neither side, so you cannot be handed a crown, and you cannot manufacture one by moving a bag you already owned into a second wallet.
Pools, routers and other program accounts are the counterparty to every trade, so they never appear on the board. Otherwise the pool would hold the crown permanently.
What the crown costs
The board shows what the current leader paid, in SOL, taken from their own transaction. Beating their token count costs roughly the same, because tokens and SOL are proportional at any given moment.
It is an indication, not a quote. The pool moves between our last read and your trade, and a large buy moves it further. Nobody is quoting you a price and nothing here is advice.
Empty hours
If nobody net bought during an hour, the throne sits empty and that is what the Record says. The previous Kingpin does not carry over.
An empty hour is the cheapest crown available: with nobody to beat, the smallest buy takes it.
Streaks
Winning consecutive hours builds a streak, and the board shows it. There is no cap and no handicap. Holding the crown all day is allowed, it is just expensive, because every hour has to be won again from zero.
Names and pictures
Nothing is typed and no wallet is ever connected. A wallet is shown as whatever the chain already says about it: a domain it owns, a picture it holds, otherwise a shortened address.
Pictures are fetched and served by us rather than linked from wherever they are stored, so looking at the board does not tell a third party that you visited.
The Record
Each crowned hour is written down permanently, including the empty ones. Selling afterwards does not remove it. The Record is the durable thing here; the live board is temporary by design.
Accuracy
The board is read from the chain on a short interval, so it can lag by a few minutes. An hour is only crowned when the whole of it was read successfully. If we could not read an hour completely, it is not crowned at all, because a partial read looks identical to a wallet that did not trade.
What this is not
kingpin.now is a game and a scoreboard. It sells nothing, takes no payment, holds no funds and offers no financial advice. It reads public chain data and displays it. Buying a token is your decision and your risk.
